250 Farmers Attend Agricultural Awareness Drive in Langate Under VKSA Banner

Kupwara,Jun,03:In A significant move towards empowering the farming community and promoting sustainable agricultural practices, a day-long awareness programme under the banner of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Langate. The event was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara, in collaboration with allied departments from the agriculture and allied sectors.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 250 farmers of Langate and adjoining areas. Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate, Sheikh Khursheed, graced the occasion as the chief guest and addressed the gathering.
In his address, MLA Sheikh Khursheed emphasized the importance of integrating scientific knowledge with traditional farming practices to enhance productivity and profitability. “Empowering our farmers with modern techniques and resources is essential for inclusive rural development. The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a pivotal initiative to bridge the gap between conventional methods and technological innovation in agriculture,” he remarked.
He further assured the organizing team of his full support in promoting scientific agriculture in Langate constituency. “I am committed to facilitating funds and resources to bolster agriculture-based activities, ensuring that our farmers reap the benefits of contemporary farming techniques,” he added.
Prof. Kaiser Mohi-ud-Din Malik, Head, KVK Kupwara, in his keynote address, shed light on the objectives of VKSA, urging farmers to actively engage with ongoing agricultural schemes and avail scientific services. “KVK Kupwara remains steadfast in its mission to provide comprehensive support to the farming community, especially in Langate. Through VKSA, we aim to inspire farmers to adopt modern, sustainable, and diversified agricultural practices,” he said.
The event also featured technical sessions where experts from line departments — including Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, and Sericulture — elaborated on inter-sectoral approaches for agricultural sustainability. Key topics discussed included integrated farming, organic agriculture, crop diversification, and agri-entrepreneurship.
An interactive session provided a platform for farmers to voice their concerns, seek clarifications, and share experiences. Experts addressed their queries, offering practical solutions and technical guidance to overcome field-level challenges.
The programme concluded on a positive note with farmers expressing appreciation for the initiative and its role in fostering awareness, capacity building, and sustainable agricultural development in the region.
