Two Minor Girls Injured in Stray Dog Attack in Kupwara’s Lolab

Kupwara, May 23:In A tragic incident, two minor girls were injured after being attacked by a stray dog in the village of Ridnag, Lalpora Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Friday afternoon.
According to family sources, the two innocent girls, identified as 5-year-old Hurain and 3-year-old Aqsa, daughters of Imtiyaz Ahmad, were playing outside their home around 2:50 PM when a stray dog suddenly attacked them.
The victims sustained multiple injuries, including scratches on their face, arms, and back. One of the girls was reported to be in a critical condition initially. Both were rushed to the nearby Medical Sub-Centre Lalpora for first aid and were later referred to District Hospital Handwara for specialized treatment.
A senior doctor at District Hospital Handwara confirmed to HEADLINES TODAY that both girls were administered Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) and Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV). “Their condition is stable now,” the doctor said.
Family members and locals expressed concern over the growing menace of stray dogs in the area. “Such incidents are becoming frequent. Just recently, another minor girl was attacked in the district headquarter. Stray dogs gather in large numbers at different places, posing a serious threat to the safety of children and residents,” a local resident said.
The residents have urged the authorities to take immediate measures to control the stray dog population and prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
