Criminals in Jammu on police radar after murder of Samba youth

Jammu, Jan 23:- In a bid to restore law and order in the Jammu region, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of JSK Range Thursday presided over a meeting focusing on tackling the menace of gangsters and criminals in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts.
Sharma emphasized the need for a concerted effort to dismantle the networks of gangsters and antisocial elements. He directed the officers to maintain a vigil on these individuals, book them under the Public Safety Act, and seize their properties acquired through illicit means.
The DIG also instructed the officers to launch a crackdown on vehicles with illegal modifications, such as tinted glasses and loud music, and take strict action against those possessing illegal weapons. He stressed the importance of involving the community in the fight against crime and educating the youth about the dangers of falling prey to gangsters.
With Republic Day 2025 around the corner, Sharma reviewed the security arrangements in the region. He directed the officers to strengthen the police checkpoints, especially in border areas and cities, and maintain close coordination with intelligence agencies to thwart any potential threats. [KNT]
