Three Injured in Road Accident at Wangam Crossing, Kralgund

Handwara, May 23:Three persons, including a motorcycle rider, a pillion rider (commonly referred to as a "pillow rider"), and a wayfarer were injured in a road accident at Wangam crossing in Kralgund area of Police District Handwara on Friday.

 

According to initial reports, the accident occurred when the motorcycle rider lost control of his bike after noticing a vehicle approaching from the opposite side or possibly an obstacle on the road. As a result, both the rider, the pillion passenger, and a passerby were injured on the spot.

 

The injured have been identified as:Zakir Hussain Mir, son of Nazir Ahmad Mir, resident of Hajan,Mohammad Hussain Khawaja, son of Farooq Ahmad Khawaja, resident of Kralgund Mohammad Shafi Dar, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar, resident of Nowpora Kalan, Sopore.

 

All three were immediately shifted to District Hospital Handwara for emergency medical care. Senior doctors at the Emergency OPD confirmed that after initial treatment and medical examination, Mohammad Shafi Dar, the wayfarer, was referred to Bone and Joint Hospital, Srinagar, as he had suffered fractures in two major bones of his lower leg — the tibia and fibula — due to the impact of the accident.

 

The motorcycle rider and the pillion rider are currently admitted at District Hospital Handwara and are reported to be in stable condition.

 

A senior police officer confirmed the incident to Headlines Today, stating that police reached the accident site within minutes and later moved the injured to the hospital. A case has been registered at Police Station Kralgund, and further investigation is underway.
