Zero Tolerance on Drugs: Handwara Police Arrest 5 in Day-Long Crackdown

Handwara, Mar,27:In a significant push against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Handwara Police has intensified its anti-drug operations across the PD Handwara, registering five FIRs and arresting five drug peddlers within a span of 24 hours.
According to official sources, the cases were registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Stations Handwara, Vilgam, and Qalamabad. The swift action reflects a coordinated and determined effort by the police to curb the growing menace of drugs in the area.
The arrests were carried out during a series of well-planned operations conducted at multiple locations, including Handwara, Vilgam, Qalamabad, and adjoining areas. During these raids, police teams recovered contraband substances, including heroin and charas-like material, from the accused individuals.
Officials stated that the crackdown is part of an ongoing campaign aimed at dismantling drug networks and ensuring a safer environment for the youth and general public. “We are committed to eliminating drug abuse from society through sustained enforcement and community cooperation,” a police spokesperson said.
Handwara Police has also appealed to the public to play an active role in the fight against drugs by sharing any information related to drug peddling or substance abuse. Authorities assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy, the police emphasised that strict and continuous action will be taken against all those involved in illegal drug activities.
