PUF, Civil Society Lead Peaceful Demonstration in Kupwara;Meet DC with Memorandum

 

 

 

Kupwara, Mar,25:A large number of pensioners from across District Kupwara, accompanied by senior members of civil society, assembled at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office complex on Wednesday morning to stage a peaceful protest highlighting their long-pending demands.

 

The gathering commenced at around 10:00 AM, with participants holding a silent and disciplined protest within the premises of the DC office. The protest was organized under the banner of Pensioners United Front (PUF) Kupwara in coordination with Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF).

 

On the occasion, office bearers of JKLPUF and JKCSF Kupwara, in the presence of several state and provincial-level leaders, submitted a detailed memorandum addressed to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India through the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara. The memorandum outlined key concerns of pensioners and urged the government to safeguard their rights and welfare.

 

The protesting pensioners primarily demanded enhancement of medical allowances, implementation of the 8th Pay Commission benefits, and other welfare measures aimed at improving the living standards of senior citizens.

 

Following the submission of the memorandum, the protest concluded peacefully. The core committee members appreciated the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara for his receptive approach and positive response towards the issues faced by senior citizens in the district.

 

The protest was led by senior district leadership, including Provincial President Mir Fayaz, District President PUF Abdul Ahad Bhat, District President CSF Ghulam Hassan Malik, Press Secretary Syed Maharaj-ud-Din Geelani, Naib Sadar CSF Bashir Ahmad Shah, Senior Naib Sadar PUF Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Convenor Ajaz Ahmad Mir, Accountant Haji Abdul Bhat, Organiser Shaikh Hussain, Syed Manzoor Geelani, Syed Meraj Shah, Firdous Ahmad Wani, Ishfaq Ahmad Lone, Syed Nazim-ud-Din, and several others.

 

The protest remained entirely peaceful and orderly, reflecting the disciplined approach of the pensioners in voicing their genuine concerns.
