Several Injured in Highway Crash at Barsoo Awantipora

Awantipora, June 14 : Several people were injured, some critically, after a Taveera vehicle (JK01Q-5159) collided head-on with a fruit-laden truck on the Srinagar-Anantnag highway (NH-44) at Barsoo Awantipora on Saturday.

The collision left the Taveera mangled and the truck overturned. Locals and passersby rushed to the scene and alerted authorities. Rescue teams extricated the injured and shifted them to nearby hospitals. Some are receiving specialized treatment.

Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted. Police have registered a case and suspect overspeeding or loss of control as possible causes of the accident. (CNS)
