Langate, Jun,14:In a commendable effort to tackle the growing issue of drug addiction, the Qaziabad Welfare Forum (QWF) organised a day-long awareness programme on drug de-addiction at Govt Middle School in Badrah Payeen area of Qaziabad Kupwara. The event saw the participation of 110 students, aimed at educating the youth about the severe consequences of substance abuse.
The programme was graced by esteemed guests, including Mohd Yousaf Bhat, Chairman of QWF, and the Headmaster of Govt Middle School in Badrah Payeen.It also drew attendance from senior citizens, members of civil society, the core body of Qaziabad Welfare Forum, and other dedicated volunteers.
During his address, Chairman of Qaziabad Welfare Forum Mohd Yousaf Bhat emphasized the critical importance of such initiatives in reaching out to the youth. He highlighted the increasing vulnerability of students to fall prey to substances like alcohol, brown sugar, chita, charas, and other drugs. He urged school management and teachers to be vigilant and proactive in preventing drug addiction among students. Additionally, he called upon the civil society to actively participate in eradicating this social menace.
Other speakers at the event echoed these sentiments, stressing the need for continuous community engagement and educational efforts to combat drug abuse. They underscored the role of collective action in creating a drug-free society and encouraged everyone to contribute towards this cause.
Qaziabad Welfare Forum, a non-political organization registered under the Government Society Act of 1860 (Registration No. 7830, dated November 22, 2023), has been actively working for the past decade against drug abuse and other social evils in the Qaziabad area. This event marked another significant milestone in QWF's relentless efforts to improve the social and developmental landscape of Qaziabad, showcasing the strength of community collaboration in addressing local issues.
