Langate, Oct, 21: Sopore emerged champions of the Qaziabad Volleyball League 2026 after defeating Rafiabad Tigers in an exciting final, bringing the week-long sporting extravaganza to a thrilling conclusion on October 21.
Organised under the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana initiative, the tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from six teams representing Langate, Sopore and Rafiabad. The league provided young volleyball players from North Kashmir with a valuable platform to showcase their sporting talent, competitive spirit and teamwork.
The final witnessed an exciting contest between the two sides, with Sopore eventually securing the coveted title. The successful completion of the tournament highlighted the growing enthusiasm for sports among local youth and the importance of providing them with opportunities to develop their skills.
The Indian Army felicitated the winning and runner-up teams with trophies, medals and cash prizes. Cash awards of ₹50,000, ₹30,000 and ₹10,000 were announced for the top three positions, recognising the players’ performances and dedication throughout the competition.
Locals appreciated the Indian Army’s efforts to promote sports and channel the energy of young people towards constructive activities. They said such initiatives play an important role in encouraging discipline, teamwork, mutual understanding and a spirit of healthy competition among youth.
The Qaziabad Volleyball League 2026 concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the role of sports in bringing communities together and strengthening relations between the Indian Army and the local population.
