Handwara, Oct,21: A long-awaited promise made by jailed Member of Parliament from North Kashmir, Er Rashid, was fulfilled with the inauguration of a college bus at Government Degree College (GDC) Handwara on Wednesday.
The bus was inaugurated by Sheikh Khursheed, MLA Langate and younger brother of Er Rashid, marking a significant step towards strengthening transportation facilities for students of the college. The bus was funded under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) for North Kashmir.
The initiative is expected to provide relief to students who face difficulties commuting to and from the institution, particularly those travelling from distant areas. The dedicated transport service is expected to make daily travel more convenient and accessible for students.
The fulfilment of the commitment highlights the importance of addressing students’ genuine concerns and improving basic facilities in educational institutions. The development is being viewed as a positive step towards easing transportation-related challenges faced by the student community in Handwara and adjoining areas.
The inauguration also underlines the role of public representatives in translating commitments into tangible benefits for people, especially students who require better facilities to pursue their education without unnecessary hardship.
