Langate,Nov,27:Residents of Abu-Bakar Colony, Watayan Hanjishat in Langate have appealed to the district administration for immediate intervention, citing the alarming condition of electricity poles and transmission lines in the area.
Locals said that for nearly seven years they have been waiting for proper upgradation of the power infrastructure, despite repeatedly approaching PDD Sub-Division Langate as well as the district administration. “Our children are at constant risk as they cannot move freely due to the dead and dangling electricity lines. We have been living in darkness for many years,” the residents said, adding that the locality comprises around 30 households.
They further alleged that despite knocking on the doors of elected representatives particularly MLA Langate Khursheed Ahmed Sheikh no relief has been provided. “After the elections, we never saw him visit the colony,” the locals claimed.
The residents have now appealed to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to personally intervene so that the damaged and unsafe electricity wires and poles are replaced without further delay.
Meanwhile, AEE Langate told Headlines Today that the department had received the representation a month ago. “Our team visited the site, and the estimate has already been submitted to the Division. We hope it will be approved soon, and Inshallah, the work will start at the earliest,” the officer said.
