Local Youth Join Hands with J&K Police to Launch Bhang Destruction Drive in Chainabal Mirgund

Srinagar July 17, 2025 — In a determined move to curb drug abuse and its growing impact on society, local youth from Chainabal Mirgund teamed up with Jammu and Kashmir Police to launch an anti-narcotics drive targeting wild cannabis (bhang) cultivation in the area.

The joint operation witnessed enthusiastic participation from volunteers and local residents, who worked side-by-side with the police to uproot and destroy large patches of wild cannabis plants growing in and around the locality.

According to officials, the drive is part of a broader campaign to raise awareness about drug abuse, especially among the youth, and to eliminate the sources of narcotic substances at the grassroots level.

Locals appreciated the proactive involvement of the youth, calling it a "welcome change" and a "message of responsibility and unity." Authorities have urged residents of nearby villages to report illegal cultivation and join hands in future eradication efforts.

Police officials confirmed that such drives will continue in the coming weeks across various areas of Budgam and Baramulla districts.
