Baramulla:- 9th July:-PHC Boniyar has once again reaffirmed its commitment to patient care by effectively managing two critical emergencies, attributing this success to the prompt actions and coordination of its dedicated healthcare team.
**Case 1: Successful Management of Supraventricular Tachycardia Without Medication**
A 45-year-old female patient from Uranbowa, Boniyar, presented at PHC Boniyar with symptoms including palpitations and sweating. An electrocardiogram (ECG) indicated the presence of Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT). The medical team swiftly initiated a Valsalva manoeuvre under the careful supervision of the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Boniyar. This intervention successfully stabilised the patient's condition without administering medication. A subsequent ECG confirmed manoeuvres to normal cardiac rhythm, underscoring the team's expertise and strict adherence to established emergency protocols.
**Case 2: Timely Administration of Thrombolysis for Anterior Wall Myocardial Infarction**
A 35-year-old female patient from Kazipora, Noorkah, arrived at 9:15 PM with acute epigastric pain radiating to her left arm, classic indicators of a potential cardiac event. An ECG confirmed a diagnosis of Anterior Wall Myocardial Infarction (MI). The patient was immediately placed on Dual Antiplatelet Therapy (DAPT).
Under the guidance of BMO Boniyar, Dr. Ruqia Showkat, the healthcare team commenced thrombolysis with Injection Tenecteplase 40 mg, a critical life-saving medication valued at approximately ₹40,000, which was administered free of charge following the health department's patient care protocols. Despite encountering network failures and communication issues, the team acted with urgency. The ambulance driver, Aijaz Ahmad, played a crucial role in ensuring timely transportation. Coordination with the 108 Emergency Service facilitated the patient's transfer to an ambulance at Khanpora and subsequently to SKIMS Srinagar for advanced care.
It is noteworthy that PHC Boniyar has successfully managed over 100 myocardial infarction cases, with numerous patients receiving on-site thrombolysis and being directly referred to tertiary care centres such as SKIMS. These cases have garnered recognition in national media as exemplary instances of high-quality healthcare provided in border regions.
**Recognition from BMO Boniyar**
BMO Boniyar, Dr. Ruqia Showkat, commended the efforts of Team Boniyar, particularly Dr. Syed Raza, for their unwavering dedication and patient-centred approach. She expressed her gratitude to the Director of Health Services, Kashmir, and the Chief Medical Officer of Baramulla for their ongoing support in ensuring the availability of essential, life-saving medications at no cost.
These successful interventions highlight the positive outcomes attributable to a well-coordinated healthcare system and the commendable teamwork exhibited by healthcare professionals operating within the medical block of Boniyar. The patient is currently admitted to SKIMS in the cardiology department for further management.
