Josh-e-Watan Volleyball Championship Held in Handwara Under “My Youth My Pride” Initiative

Handwara,Jul,09:In a spirited display of youth engagement and sporting enthusiasm, the Youth Civil Society Kashmir, in collaboration with Handwara Police and the J&K Sports Council, successfully organized the Josh-e-Watan Volleyball Championship at the Indoor Sports Stadium Handwara. The event was held under the banner of “My Youth My Pride” and dedicated to the memory of the valiant martyr DySP Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who laid down his life in the line of duty.

 

The championship brought together eight volleyball teams from various districts across the Kashmir Valley, transforming the sports arena into a hub of vibrant competition and camaraderie. The primary aim of the event was not only to promote sportsmanship among the youth but also to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of brave officers and to channel the energies of young people in constructive pursuits.

 

The event was inaugurated by DIG North Kashmir Range, Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS), who lauded the enthusiasm of the players and appreciated the organizers for conceptualizing an event that carries both social and emotional resonance. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of such platforms in fostering unity, discipline, and a sense of purpose among the region’s youth.

 

The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, presided over by SSP Handwara, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary (JKPS). He felicitated the winners and runner-up teams with trophies, medals, and cash prizes, congratulating all participants for their spirited performances. In his address, SSP Handwara acknowledged the valuable contribution of the civil society and local youth in making the event a success. He reiterated the police department’s commitment to encouraging sports and cultural activities as vital tools for youth empowerment and social harmony.

 

Community members and civil society representatives present on the occasion extended their gratitude to Handwara Police for consistently promoting such youth-centric initiatives. The local youth particularly appreciated the leadership of SSP Handwara for providing them opportunities to showcase their talent in a positive environment. They expressed hope that such collaborations between police, civil society, and sports bodies would continue in the future, offering more avenues for the younger generation to excel and stay connected with constructive activities.

 

The Josh-e-Watan Volleyball Championship stands as a testament to the spirit of resilience, unity, and collective effort in Kashmir, honouring its martyrs while nurturing the dreams of its youth.
