Tribal,War Effected Farmers of Machil Benefit from ICAR Project, KVK Kupwara Organises Awareness, Input Distribution

Kupwara,Jul,01:In a significant outreach initiative, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara SKUAST-K on Tuesday organised a comprehensive training programme and distributed agricultural inputs among war-affected tribal farmers of Ring payeen and Chotiwari Payeen of Machil area of Kupwara district ,under the Tribal Sub Plan project of ICAR.

 

The programme was presided over by Prof Kaiser Mohiuddin, Head, KVK Kupwara, alongside the scientific staff of the Kendra and other employees from line departments,Addressing the gathering, Prof. Kaiser lauded the dedicated efforts of Prof. Javeed Ahmad Mugloo, Principal Investigator of the project, for proactively addressing the agricultural challenges faced by tribal farmers in this remote and sensitive region.

 

Prof. Kaiser also extended heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Director Extension Prof. Rehana Habib Kant, and the District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, as well as Indian Army for their continuous support and cooperation in facilitating such farmer-centric programmes in border areas.

 

During the programme, scientists interacted with the local farmers, disseminating valuable information about various government schemes, modern agricultural practices, and solutions for their existing farming-related issues. The farmers, in turn, raised their concerns and appreciated the university authorities for their committed efforts towards the welfare of the tribal farming community.

 

The programme concluded meaningfully at the Zero Line in Ring Bala of Machil, symbolising a message of development, resilience, and solidarity for the border community.
