Large Turnout Marks PCPG Meeting at Magam in Handwara; Public Grievances Redressed on Spot

Handwara, Dec 29: In a significant step towards strengthening the police-public relations, Handwara Police on Monday organised a Police–Public Contact Group (PCPG) meeting at Magam, which witnessed an overwhelming response from local residents.
The large turnout and active participation made the interaction a notable event in community policing efforts in the area.
The meeting was chaired and addressed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Shri Sahil Srangal,(IPS) who held an open and interactive dialogue with the public. People from different sections of society participated and raised various grievances and concerns related to civic issues, law and order, and public safety.
Demonstrating a people-centric approach, the SSP patiently listened to the issues and ensured that most of them were resolved on the spot.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Handwara emphasised the importance of cooperation between the police and the public for maintaining peace and harmony. He reiterated that community participation is vital for effective policing and assured citizens that the police department remains accessible and responsive to public needs.
The PCPG meeting was attended by senior police officers including SDPO Handwara Shri Faisal Hussain, DySP DAR Handwara Shri Shafiq Ahmad, Probationer DySP Shri Vikram Chaudhry, SHO Police Station Handwara Shri Vilayat Ali, and IC Police Post Magam Shri Ovais Abdullah, besides other officials, which further underlined the seriousness of the initiative.
As part of the civic action programme, SSP Handwara also distributed stationery kits among poor and needy families and sewing machines to deserving girls, aimed at promoting education and women's empowerment. These welfare measures were widely appreciated by the local community.
The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of trust and collaboration, as residents lauded the proactive approach of Handwara Police. The PCPG interaction at Magam reaffirmed the commitment of the police department to work hand in hand with the community to ensure peace, security, and social welfare in the area.
