Kupwara,Aug,11: Under the ongoing Kisan Sampark Abhiyaan of the Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture & Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP), the Agriculture Production Department, J&K, today organized a series of awareness camps at Sogam, Magam, and Qadirabad CD Blocks. The initiative, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), aims to enhance the competitiveness of agriculture and allied sectors across the Union Territory.
This inaugural phase of the programme targeted multiple Panchayats in the concerned blocks, ensuring outreach to a wide section of the farming community. Farmers, youth, and members of vulnerable groups, including the Chopan and ST categories, turned out in large numbers, participating with notable enthusiasm.
The events were graced by the presence of Hon’ble MLA Kupwara Mir Mohammad Fayaz, MLA Langate Khursheed Ahmed Sheikh, and MLA Lolab Qaysar Jamshaid Lone. Speaking on the occasion, the legislators underscored the vital role of agriculture and allied activities in strengthening the rural economy. They urged farmers, particularly the younger generation, to capitalize on the new schemes and technologies being introduced under JKCIP.
District Nodal Officer KSA (DSHO Kupwara), along with all district-level officers from agriculture and allied departments, joined experts from SKUAST-K and KVK Kupwara in delivering detailed presentations. They explained the complementary and supplementary activities covered under various JKCIP components, outlining opportunities for capacity building, infrastructure development, and modern farming practices.
On-the-spot registrations were conducted, and feedback from participants was collected digitally through dedicated Google links, ensuring seamless communication and follow-up.
The awareness camps concluded successfully, leaving participants motivated to adopt modern agricultural practices and avail themselves of scheme benefits. The initiative will continue in the coming days to cover all identified Panchayats in the district, aiming to transform agriculture into a more competitive, sustainable, and profitable sector for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
