Kishtwar Cloudburst Tragedy: CM Omar Abdullah Cancels “At Home” Tea Party, Cultural Events for Independence Day

Srinagar, Aug 14 - CNS:- In the wake of the tragic cloudburst in Kishtwar, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced the cancellation of the “At Home” tea party scheduled for tomorrow evening. The Chief Minister also stated that the cultural events planned for the morning Independence Day celebrations will not be held as a mark of respect for the victims.

 

However, the formal proceedings of the day — including the ceremonial speech, march past, and other official components — will continue as scheduled. The decision comes amid widespread grief and mourning across Jammu and Kashmir over the loss of lives and devastation caused by the natural disaster.(CNS)
