Handwara,Jan,09:The Mountain Research Centre for Sheep & Goat, in collaboration with Kissan Khidmat Ghar Karihama, organized an awareness-cum-training programme at the Livestock Development Office, Handwara, aimed at enhancing farmers’ knowledge of scientific livestock management and promoting sustainable sheep and goat rearing practices in the region.
The programme was managed by Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Rather, Krishi Udhyami, Kissan Khidmat Ghar Karihama. Dr. Rouf Ahmad Shah, Director, Sheep Husbandry Department, attended the event as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by the District Sheep Husbandry Officer (DSHO) Handwara and a team of veterinary doctors.
The technical sessions were conducted by Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Reshi and his team of scientists from SKUAST-Kashmir, who provided valuable insights into modern breeding techniques, balanced nutrition, and effective disease prevention measures.
A live interactive session was also held, during which participating farmers raised various field-level issues and grievances. Dr. Shah patiently addressed the concerns and assured farmers of continuous departmental support and close coordination to strengthen the sheep and goat sector in Kupwara and adjoining districts.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants for their active involvement and a resolve to organize more such farmer-centric initiatives in the future.
