Prof. G.M. Bhat Takes Charge as New Head of KVK Kupwara, Promises Stronger Farmer-Oriented Initiatives

Kupwara,Dec 01: In a significant development aimed at strengthening the agricultural landscape of Kupwara district, Prof. G.M. Bhat, son of the soil, formally took charge as the new Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara on Monday. He was accorded a warm welcome by the scientific and non-scientific staff of the Kendra.
Addressing the staff after assuming charge, Prof. Bhat reaffirmed his commitment to the farming community of the district, stating that “we will jointly work for the welfare of the farmers of Kupwara.” He expressed hope that KVK Kupwara would emerge as the leading KVK under SKUAST-K in the coming year.
Prof. Bhat acknowledged the visionary leadership of SKUAST-K Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Director Extension Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, and other officials who have contributed immensely to the upliftment of farmers. He emphasized that their guidance has played a pivotal role in shaping dynamic agricultural interventions across the region.
Immediately after taking over, Prof. Bhat held an introductory meeting with the scientific and non-scientific staff to review their assignments, field responsibilities, and ongoing projects. He later inspected various agricultural plots, demonstration fields, and research sections to assess current progress on the ground.
He encouraged the staff to work with renewed dedication and called for immediate improvements in demonstration plots and agricultural fields. He assured full support to all employees for strengthening KVK Kupwara. Prof. Bhat also appealed to the district administration to extend cooperation for green revolution initiatives not only around the KVK campus but across government offices in the district.
