An Interaction with Prof. Shad Ramzan” Held at Tagore Hall

Srinagar 22 Nov 25:-  Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today hosted a remarkable literary interaction titled “An Interaction with Prof. Shad Ramzan” at the Conference Hall, Tagore Hall, Srinagar. The event celebrated the life and literary contributions of Prof. Shad Ramzan, an eminent Kashmiri writer, poet, translator, educationist, and critic.

The programme was presided over by noted educationist and critic Prof. Bashir Bashir, while renowned poet Prof. Naseem Shafaie graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Shad Ramzan, President of Adbee Markaz, Kamraz Mohammad Amin Bhat, and Additional Secretary of the Academy, Ideel Saleem, were also present in the presedium.

 

The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Additional Secretary Ideel Saleem, who warmly greeted the audience and highlighted the Academy’s consistent literary and cultural initiatives. This was followed by an extensive scholarly paper presented by distinguished critic Dr Satish Vimal, focusing on Prof. Shad Ramzan’s intellectual and literary achievements, which received overwhelming appreciation from the audience.

The Academy honoured Prof. Ramzan with a traditional shawl and a commemorative memento. During the event, Prof. Ramzan shared valuable insights from his personal life, academic journey, and creative experiences, while expressing gratitude to the Cultural Academy for organising the programme.

The session was followed by a vibrant and engaging interactive segment, during which numerous literary personalities asked questions related to Prof. Ramzan’s creative path and academic contributions. The participants included: Engineer Mohammad Shafi, Shamshad Kralwari, Mohammad Yousuf Shaheen, Ayash Aarif, Gulshan Badarani, Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq, Shabir Mujahid, Shafiq Qureshi, Touseef Raza, Riyaz Ahmad Riyaz, Dr Abid Ahmad, Manshoor Banhali, Rouf Adil, Masood Shadab, Dr Samiullah, Dr Arif Mir, Dr Imtiyaz Hussain, G.M. Dilshad, and Dr Shabir Ahmad Ganaie.

Speaking on the occasion.

AMK President Mohammad Amin Bhat highlighted that Prof. Shad Ramzan is among the rare figures whose intellectual insight and creative excellence have enriched every dimension of Kashmiri literature.

In his presidential address, 

Prof. Bashir Bashir paid rich tribute to Prof. Ramzan’s scholarly stature, stating that personalities like him are seldom born in the history of Kashmiri literature. He remarked that Prof. Ramzan holds an exceptional place due to his equal command over creative writing, criticism, research, and teaching, describing him as not just an accomplished poet and prose writer, but also a beacon of intellectual guidance for the younger generation. He further added that such interactions are not only intellectually nourishing but also a source of hope and energy for the future of literature.

 

The event witnessed the presence of many prominent writers, poets, scholars, and literature enthusiasts including Dr. Nazeer Mushtaq, Lateef Niyazi, Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, Shehnaz Rasheed, Waheed Jeelani, Rasheed Nizami, Seth Rafi, Shakeel Azad, Imdad Saqi, Izhaar Mubashir, Muzaffar Hussain Dilbar, Zameer Ansari, Sagar Sarfaraz, Shehzad Manzoor, Majeed Majazi, Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Dr. Shabnam Aishai, Dr. Zulfiqar Siddiqi, Nasir Zameer, Saleem Salik, Dr. Asma Shah, Laila Rasool, Dr. Nelofar Naz Nahvi, Dildar Ashraf Shah, Katib Gulzar Ahmad, Nusrat Jan, Aafiya Qari, Yasmeen Tahir, Jameel Ansari, and Abdul Hameed Sheikh.

 

The event was conducted by Assistant Editor (Kashmiri) Dr Gulzar Ahmad Rather, while Editor (Kashmiri) Jawaid Iqbal Khan presented the vote of thanks.
