Temple gutted in fire incident in Shopian, probe ordered

Srinagar, Mar 10: A temple was gutted in a fire incident in the Zainapora area of South Kashmir's Shopian district during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, officials said.

J&K Police has registered a case and is investigating the cause of the fire     

Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered an inquiry into the incident to establish the cause of the fire, an official spokesman said.

District Magistrate (DM), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya along with Senior Superintendent of Police  Shopian, Amrit Paul Singh visited the site of Rojana Temple at Zainapora Shopian to take stock of the situation.

The forensic team has also collected the samples of the gutted temple and police are investigating the cause of the fire and lodged an FIR in this regard.

Vaishya said those found guilty shall not be spared and dealt with an iron fist.

Meanwhile, DM directed Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zainapora for immediate restoration of the gutted temple.
