Jammu, February 5: The mother of noted Kashmiri singer and composer Wahid Jeelani passed away in Jammu on Wednesday after a brief illness, casting a pall of gloom over the artistic and cultural fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Family sources said she breathed her last at a private hospital in Jammu. The news of her demise triggered an outpouring of grief and condolence messages from musicians, artists, writers, and admirers across the Valley and beyond.
Extending heartfelt condolences, Kruhen Cultural Forum Kreeri, through its President Syed Shamim Ahmad Shamim and General Secretary Syed Sharief Hussain Qadri, expressed deep sorrow over the loss. In a joint statement, they prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength and patience for the bereaved family to endure this irreparable loss.
