Kupwara,Apr,14: In a significant step toward strengthening rural healthcare outreach and supporting the anti-drug initiative launched under the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan, a free mega medical camp was successfully organized in Gundmanchar village of Lolab Valley in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The camp was conducted by the District Administration Kupwara in collaboration with Quality Health Care Drugmulla Kupwara(QHCD) and the Indian Army’s 8 Sector. The initiative aimed to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to residents of remote areas while also spreading awareness about preventive health and drug de-addiction.
The medical camp was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Suse in the presence of senior officials from the Indian Army, Managing Director of Quality Health Care Kupwara Dr. Abdul Majeed, BMO Sogam, Abdul Rahim Wani (Joint Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party), and other dignitaries.
A dedicated team of specialist doctors from Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara, along with paramedical staff, participated in the camp. They provided free medical consultations, diagnostic tests, and medicines to the attendees. Patients from various parts of Lolab Valley, including children, women, and elderly citizens, turned up in large numbers.
Approximately 700 people benefited from the camp, marking it as a highly impactful healthcare intervention in the region. On-the-spot medical examinations and diagnostic tests were conducted to assess the health conditions of patients, ensuring timely and appropriate treatment.
Local residents expressed gratitude to the organizers for bringing advanced healthcare services to their doorstep. Many highlighted that such initiatives are crucial for remote areas where access to medical facilities remains limited.
In addition to healthcare services, a pledge ceremony was also organized in a local school to promote the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan. Thousands of participants, including youth, students, women, and senior citizens, pledged their support to make Kupwara a drug-free district.
Speaking to the media, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the anti-drug mission would be expanded in the coming days with active participation from government departments as well as the general public. He appreciated the role of the Indian Army, GMC Handwara, and particularly Dr. Abdul Majeed for consistently contributing to public welfare through such initiatives.
Dr.Abdul Majeed, Managing Director of Quality Health Care Kupwara, reiterated his commitment to serving society beyond his professional responsibilities. He stated that organizing free medical camps is not just a duty but a mission to improve healthcare accessibility in Kupwara.
