Massive Anti-Drug Rally Held in Handwara Under Nasha Mukt Campaign

Handwara,Apr,17: In a powerful demonstration of unity and determination against the growing drug menace, the District Administration Kupwara on Friday organised a mega Pad Yatra in Sub-District Handwara under the slogan “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life.” The event carried a strong public message against substance abuse and reaffirmed the collective resolve to build a healthier, drug-free society.

The rally was flagged off from Chotipora and witnessed the presence of Sajad Gani Lone, Commissioner/Secretary School Education Department and District Mentor of 100 Days NMBA Campaign Shri Ram Niwas Sharma (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Balasaheb Suse (IAS), SSP Handwara Sahil Sarangal (IPS), Director Colleges Prof. (Dr.) S. Ajaz Bashir, ADC Handwara Javed Naseem Masoodi (JKAS), Tehsildar Handwara Zeeshan Khan, senior police officers including ASP and SDPO Handwara, besides several officers from different departments.

Former DDC Chairman Kupwara Irfan Sultan Pandithpori, members of civil society, traders, transport associations, youth groups, social activists and a large number of students from across Handwara also participated enthusiastically in the awareness march.

Raising impactful slogans and carrying vibrant placards, participants transformed the streets of Handwara into a strong platform of awareness, highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse and the urgent need for collective action.

The march commenced from TRC Kargama and passed through major streets and markets of Handwara town, drawing public attention and energising the anti-drug campaign at the grassroots level. Participants also took the Nasha Mukt pledge, reaffirming their commitment to stand united against substance abuse.

The rally culminated at the playground of Government Degree College Handwara, where more than 15,000 people from different walks of life assembled. Speakers, including Sajad Gani Lone and other dignitaries, stressed that the fight against drugs is not merely an administrative responsibility but a larger social mission requiring vigilance, awareness and sustained public participation.

A signature drive was also conducted on the occasion, symbolising the shared commitment of the people towards a drug-free future.
