Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebrated with Enthusiasm Across Police District Handwara
Run for Unity, Pledge Ceremonies, Photo Exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Ekta Tree Plantation Mark the Occasion

Handwara,Oct,31:Police District Handwara observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) with great zeal and patriotic fervour, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. A series of events were held across the district to reaffirm the commitment towards national unity, integrity, and security.
The main function was organised at the District Police Lines (DPL) Handwara, where a large contingent of police personnel participated in a pledge-taking ceremony. Officers and personnel collectively vowed to uphold the spirit of unity and contribute towards the nation’s peace and progress in line with Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India.
Similar pledge ceremonies were conducted at all Police Sub-units across the district. The events emphasised the importance of national integration and harmony as vital elements in preserving internal security and fostering collective strength. A ceremonial march past was also held at DPL Handwara to mark the occasion.
Earlier in the day, ‘Run for Unity’ events were organised in various parts of Police District Handwara, attracting enthusiastic participation from youth, students, and police personnel. The main run commenced from Chotipora Handwara and culminated at the Environmental Hall Handwara, symbolising the spirit of oneness and determination.
Senior officers including SSP Handwara, Addl. SP Handwara, SDPO Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, SHO Handwara, and other officers from the civil and police administration actively participated in the event and encouraged the participants to uphold the ideals of unity and national integrity.
In addition to the run and pledge ceremonies, a Photo Exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was displayed, showcasing his immense contributions to the unification of India. Furthermore, an Ekta Tree Plantation Drive (Ekta Vriksh Campaign) was organised across police units, symbolising a joint commitment to both national unity and environmental sustainability.
