Handwara,Oct,21:Police Commemoration Day was observed with great reverence and solemnity at District Police Lines (DPL) Handwara to honor the supreme sacrifices made by police personnel across the country in the line of duty at Police District Handwara.
The event was presided over by SSP Handwara, who was accompanied by DySP PC Headquarters Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, CAPF officers, and other police officials. Members of the civil society, retired police officers, and families of police martyrs also participated in the ceremony to pay their heartfelt tributes to the fallen heroes.
The ceremony began with floral tributes being offered at the Martyrs’ Memorial in remembrance of the brave police personnel who laid down their lives while safeguarding the integrity and security of the nation. This was followed by two minutes of silence, observed as a mark of respect for their supreme sacrifice.
A ceremonial salute was presented by contingents of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, symbolizing collective respect and remembrance for the martyrs. On the occasion, the SSP Handwara read out the names of police martyrs from across the country who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty at Police District Handwara and paid rich tributes to their courage, dedication, and selflessness.
The function concluded with wreath-laying and showering of flowers at the Martyrs’ Memorial by officers, officials, guests, and the family members of the martyrs. As a gesture of solidarity and gratitude, SSP Handwara distributed gifts among the Next of Kin (NOK) of police martyrs and interacted with them, patiently listening to their concerns. He assured that all their genuine issues would be addressed on a priority basis.
Reiterating the department’s unwavering commitment, Handwara Police reaffirmed its resolve to continue honoring the sacrifices of its brave personnel and to extend every possible support to the families of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty
