PM Modi Launches ₹42,000 Cr Agriculture Schemes; Kupwara Farmers Join Virtually

Kupwara, Oct 11: Hundreds of progressive farmers, including a large number of women, from different parts of Kupwara district participated in the live online telecast of the launch of ‘PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ and ‘Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses’ organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara at its agricultural field on Saturday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the two major agricultural initiatives and laid the foundation stone for multiple projects worth over ₹42,000 crore during a special Krishi programme held at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi.
The PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, with an outlay of ₹24,000 crore, aims to enhance productivity, promote crop diversification and sustainable farming, and improve irrigation and credit facilities in 100 selected districts. The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, with an outlay of ₹11,440 crore, focuses on increasing pulse production, expanding cultivation, and strengthening the value chain from procurement to processing.
At the district level, DDC Member Drugmulla Advocate Amina Malik attended the event as chief guest and interacted with the farmers after the telecast. She lauded the efforts of KVK Kupwara, led by Prof. Kaiser Mohi-ud-Din Malik, for empowering local farmers and promoting agricultural development.
Progressive farmers appreciated the KVK scientific team for their support and guidance and thanked Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Director Extension Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth for their continued efforts in uplifting the farming community of Kupwara.
