Handwara,Jun,11:In A significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Handwara Police on Wednesday attached properties worth lakhs belonging to two notorious drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In the first operation, Police Station Handwara, acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, attached two commercial shops along with a piece of land located at Main Market Handwara. The property belonged to Javaid Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Razaq Sofi, a resident of Khunbal Handwara. The attachment proceedings were carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class Handwara in connection with Case FIR No. 193/2024 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act.

In a separate but equally impactful operation, Police Station Qalamabad attached an immovable property belonging to another notorious drug peddler. The property, comprising a plot of land with a raised plinth, is owned by Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, son of late Abdul Ahad Bhat, a resident of Jandipora Maratgam.
