Explosion During Mosque Demolition in Langate,Leaves Three Injured

Langate, June 16:In A startling incident this morning, two labourers and a local resident sustained minor injuries after an explosion occurred during the demolition of a 70-year-old mosque in the Kasheri area of Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to local residents, the explosion took place while a group of people was razing the old mosque structure to make way for a new one. The blast, which happened unexpectedly amid the demolition activity, resulted in minor injuries to three individuals.
The injured have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Mir of Nutnoosa, Ghulam Ahmad Tantray of Kachri, and Owais Ahmad of Hadipora. All three were immediately rushed to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Langate for treatment. Medical officials confirmed that two of the injured were discharged after receiving first aid, while one was referred to District Hospital Handwara for further medical care. His condition is reported to be stable.
Soon after the incident, security forces including the Indian Army’s 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Handwara Police swiftly reached the spot and cordoned off the area. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also pressed into service to ascertain the nature and origin of the explosion. Sanitization operations inside and around the mosque premises are currently underway as a precautionary measure.
Speaking to Headlines Today, Superintendent of Police Handwara stated that the cause of the explosion is being investigated and further inquiries are ongoing.
