Crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami Network: Incriminating Material Seized in Handwara Raid

Handwara, Apr, 25: In A significant move aimed at curbing anti-national activities, Handwara Police on Friday conducted a well-coordinated search operation in the Kulangam area. The raid was carried out following actionable intelligence inputs in connection with an ongoing investigation under Case FIR No. 29/2019, registered at Police Station Handwara under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The operation targeted the residential premises of Gh. Rasool War, son of Late Asadullah War, a resident of Kulangam, who has been under the scanner for his continued association with the proscribed organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

During the raid, police teams recovered and seized incriminating material linked to the banned outfit, strictly adhering to legal protocols.

A senior police officer confirmed that the raid forms part of a broader campaign to dismantle networks supporting anti-national elements and disrupt their unlawful activities in the region.

“The operation was conducted smoothly, and the investigation is actively progressing. We are pursuing further leads to expose and neutralize the wider network associated with the proscribed organisation,” the officer added.

This development underscores the district police’s commitment to maintaining peace and thwarting any attempts that could disrupt public order or threaten national security in the region.
