Secretary RDD&PR Aijaz Asad reviews development projects in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, August 23: Secretary, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR), Mohammad Aijaz Asad, on Friday undertook an extensive tour of Ganderbal district to inspect key developmental projects and review the progress of ongoing works, including the Yatri Bhawan at Mata Kheer Bhawani and the District Development Council (DDC) building at Wahidpora.

 

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Shabir Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Altaf Hussain, Executive Engineer REW Ganderbal, and BDO Ganderbal.

 

At Tullamulla, the Secretary visited the Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple to review the construction of the Yatri Bhawan, being executed at a cost of Rs 279.71 lakh. He directed the officers to ensure timely completion with strict quality standards, so as to provide better facilities to yatris and devotees.

 

The Secretary also inspected the Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU) at Tullamulla and reviewed the process of segregation and disposal of waste. Stressing the need for scientific waste management, he called for strengthening sustainable sanitation practices in rural areas.

 

Later, at Wahidpora, Aijaz Asad inspected the under-construction DDC building, being developed at a cost of Rs 187.54 lakh. He instructed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work and ensure the facility becomes functional at the earliest.

 

During the tour, the Block Development Officer briefed the Secretary about various developmental works being carried out under MGNREGA and other flagship schemes.

 

The Secretary emphasized on quality, timely delivery of projects, and active community participation to ensure that the benefits of rural development schemes reach people at the grassroots level.
