Kupwara, Aug 23: In a significant move towards strengthening agricultural development and empowering the farming community, the 19th Annual Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, who also serves as Chairman of the SAC.
The meeting was attended by eminent dignitaries, including Director Extension SKUAST-K, Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth (Guest of Honour), Heads of various KVKs, District Officers of Line Departments, scientific staff from the Directorate of Extension, KVK Kupwara staff, and progressive farmers of the district. The Director ATARI (Zone I) along with scientific staff from the zone also participated virtually, offering valuable inputs to the discussions.
The programme began with a Welcome Address by Prof. Shahid Hakeem, followed by a detailed presentation of the Action Taken Report by Dr. Kaiser Mohiuddin Malik, Head KVK Kupwara. The report highlighted major achievements of the past year, priority action points, and future strategies. Feedback from line departments and progressive farmers was also sought, ensuring that grassroots-level perspectives were integrated into policy and programme planning.
To acknowledge outstanding contributions, several progressive farmers were felicitated with appreciation certificates by the Vice Chancellor, a gesture aimed at motivating and reinforcing their role in advancing agricultural excellence in the district.
In her address, Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth praised KVK Kupwara for introducing high-yielding crop varieties, promoting farmer-centric outreach programmes, and fostering entrepreneurship among rural youth. She stressed the importance of continued collaboration between farmers, scientists, and line departments for sustainable agricultural growth.
Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, while lauding the dedicated work culture of KVK Kupwara, urged the team to embrace innovation and explore new avenues for development with the vision of transforming KVK Kupwara into one of the leading KVKs in the country.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Firdous Ahmad Raina, who extended heartfelt gratitude to dignitaries, officers, and KVK staff for their contributions. He also acknowledged the support of District Administration Kupwara and appreciated the media fraternity for their consistent efforts in highlighting agricultural initiatives, promoting scientific awareness, and connecting the farming community with modern innovations.
