Handwara’s Fruit Growers Unite in Protest, Mourn Pahalgam Victims

Handwara,Apr,24:In A moving display of solidarity and grief, the Fruit Growers and Dealers Association Handwara, under the leadership of Chairman Mohd Amin Wani, organized a protest march today at Handwara Fruit Mandi, strongly condemning the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed innocent lives.
The tragic incident, which resulted in the deaths of several tourists, has sent shockwaves across Jammu and Kashmir, prompting widespread calls for peace, justice, and enhanced security measures to protect civilians and visitors alike.
On Thursday morning, members of the Fruit Growers and Dealers Association assembled at the main gate of Fruit Mandi Handwara for a solemn foot march within the premises. Holding placards and banners, the protesters walked in silence, occasionally breaking into chants denouncing violence and urging an end to the bloodshed that has long plagued the region.
Chairman Mohd Amin Wani, along with core members and representatives of the association, led the procession. Addressing the gathering and the media, Wani condemned the attack in the strongest terms.
"The barbaric killings are an affront to humanity," Wani told Headlines Today. "We must stand united against this cycle of terror that continues to disrupt lives and shatter families."
The participants expressed heartfelt solidarity with the victims' families and extended support to the security forces and administrative personnel tirelessly working to safeguard civilians under challenging circumstances.
"The administration and security forces are doing their best to ensure safety," said one protester. "But collective efforts from both the public and leadership are essential to restore peace and normalcy in the region."
The march culminated near the head office of the Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, where a moment of silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack.
This poignant demonstration reaffirmed Langate and Handwara’s enduring commitment to non-violence and their collective yearning for a future free from the shadow of terror.
