Kupwara, Jun,23: Residents of Gujjarpati and GujjarNar hamlets in Nagri Malpora of Trehgam constituency in Kupwara district celebrated a historic milestone on Monday as the area finally received road connectivity after a wait spanning several decades.
The inaugural ceremony was organised by the R&B Division Handwara and attended by MLA Trehgam, Mir Siafullah, local residents, and officials from the department.
The newly constructed road is expected to bring significant relief to the inhabitants of these remote hamlets by improving transportation facilities, easing access to essential services, and boosting socio-economic development in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, residents expressed their gratitude to MLA Mir Siafullah and Executive Engineer R&B Handwara, Farooq Ahmad Shah, for fulfilling a long-pending promise and addressing a genuine public demand that had remained unresolved for years.
Locals said the absence of proper road connectivity had posed numerous challenges, particularly during medical emergencies, transportation of agricultural produce, and access to educational institutions and government services.
They described the project as a major milestone in the development of the area and said it would positively impact the lives of hundreds of families residing in these hamlets.
Residents also expressed hope that more public welfare and infrastructure projects would be undertaken in the future to further improve living conditions in remote villages of the constituency.
The event concluded with people appreciating the efforts of the administration and the Roads and Buildings Department for turning a long-cherished dream into reality.
