Kupwara,Apr,28: Senior BJP leader and former Jammu & Kashmir state president Ravinder Raina on Monday visited the residence of Ghulam Rasool Magray, who was recently shot dead by unknown gunmen at his native village in the Kandi area of Langate,in district Kupwara. Raina was accompanied by party senior leader Javid Qureshi and Kupwara district president Syed Rafiq Shah.
Expressing deep grief over the killing, Raina strongly condemned the ongoing cycle of violence in the Kashmir Valley. “For the last 30 years, every household in Kashmir has suffered due to this senseless game of gun and grenade. It’s high time to put a permanent end to this bloodshed and work collectively towards peace, prosperity, and a better future for our people,” Raina said while interacting with the bereaved family.
Raina made a heartfelt appeal to both the J&K administration and the central government to extend all possible support to the victim’s family. He highlighted the plight of Magray’s elderly mother, who is completely visually impaired and has now lost her only son and caretaker.
“Our security forces, especially the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kupwara, are actively investigating this case and working to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this heinous act. I have full faith that justice will be delivered to this poor and shattered family,” Raina added.
The BJP leader also took aim at Pakistan-based terrorist groups, accusing them of repeatedly disturbing the peace in the region. “History is witness to the peace and prosperity that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed over the last seven years. But, unfortunately, terror outfits from across the border continue their bloody games to destabilize our region. The recent Pahalgam attack and now this tragedy in Kupwara are part of the same conspiracy,” Raina stated.
He added that the people of Jammu and Kashmir, cutting across party, region, and community lines, have unanimously condemned these cowardly acts of violence and stand together in the fight against terrorism.
The visit by Raina and other BJP leaders was seen as a gesture of solidarity with the grief-stricken family and a reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to restoring peace and normalcy in the region.
