Handwara,Apr,10:In A significant move to enhance public outreach and foster stronger police-community relations, Handwara Police, under the leadership of SSP Handwara Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhury (JKPS), on Thursday organised Thana Diwas/Lok Darbar events across the police district.
The central event was held at Police Station Qalamabad, where SSP Chowdhury personally interacted with members of the public, reaffirming the police’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric policing. Similar events were simultaneously conducted at other police stations across the district.
The Lok Darbar provided a platform for citizens to express their grievances, share concerns, and seek resolution of issues related to law and order, civic safety, and policing. SSP Chowdhury assured the attendees of timely and impartial action on all genuine complaints and stressed the importance of active community participation in maintaining peace and harmony.
Senior officers including SDPO Handwara, DySP DAR, SHOs, DOs, and IOs were also present at various venues to listen to public issues and provide on-the-spot solutions. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, who appreciated the initiative and welcomed the police’s proactive approach.
“Thana Diwas is our way of connecting directly with the people. It is our responsibility to ensure that every citizen is heard, and their issues are addressed fairly and swiftly,” SSP Chowdhury said, highlighting the department’s focus on inclusive and responsive policing.
The police also used the occasion to raise awareness on vital issues such as women’s safety, drug abuse prevention, and traffic regulations, urging the public to support ongoing efforts for a peaceful and crime-free society.
The initiative concluded on a positive note, with a vote of thanks to the participants and a renewed pledge by Handwara Police to uphold the principles of service, integrity, and public trust.
