Handwara,May,20: In A significant move against illegal mineral extraction, the Handwara administration carried out a successful operation in village Bakhiakher, seizing a large quantity of illegally dumped sand and other minerals. The action was taken under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and based on credible inputs received by the local authorities.
The raid was conducted by Tehsildar Handwara, Zeeshan Khan, under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara. The illegally extracted material was seized on the spot and subsequently handed over to the District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kupwara. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those found involved in the unlawful activity.
Tehsildar Zeeshan Khan has consistently led efforts against unauthorized mining in Handwara. Over the past few years, he has conducted several coordinated operations alongside the Handwara Police to curb the menace of illegal mineral extraction, which poses serious threats to the environment and local livelihoods.
