Handwara, May: 18:The National Democratic People's Alliance (NDPA) organised a workers' meet today at Gund Chogal in Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The event witnessed the participation of over 40 core members of the party from various parts of the valley.
The meeting was presided over by NDPA President Khawja Ubaid, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by the party’s Chief Spokesperson Javid Iqbal, alongside senior core members from different districts.
During the meeting, party leaders emphasised the significant role of each worker in carrying forward the party’s message to the grassroots. They pledged to collectively work against the rising electricity tariff burdening poor households and vowed to dedicate themselves to the welfare and development of underprivileged families. The leaders reiterated that NDPA is not just a political party, but a platform of trust working as social activists for the people’s welfare.
Addressing media persons, Chief Spokesperson Javid Iqbal stated that NDPA is committed to working for the peace and prosperity of the nation. He paid tribute to the civilians, Army, Police, and BSF personnel who lost their lives or homes in the recent cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC). Iqbal lauded the steps taken to uphold the ceasefire agreement, adding that a peaceful environment is the ultimate solution to every issue faced by the region.
He further appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to fulfill the promises he made during parliamentary and assembly election campaigns. “People are still waiting for justice and accountability. Basic public service departments like PDD, PHE, R&B, PMGSY, Revenue, and RDD continue to function poorly, leaving local populations deprived of essential facilities,” Iqbal said.
The day-long program concluded with Hilal Ahmad Bhat, District Yuva Morcha President of Kupwara, extending gratitude to the party leadership for visiting Kupwara and participating in the important workers' meet. NDPA President Khawja Ubaid also thanked Handwara Police for ensuring necessary security arrangements during the gathering.
The party resolved to continue its efforts for public welfare and act as a bridge between the administration and common people, voicing their issues and aspirations.
