Republic Day 2026: Officers Asked to Ensure Uninterrupted Services
All Arrangements Finalised in Langate and Handwara

Handwara, Jan,19:In preparation for the smooth and dignified celebration of Republic Day–2026, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, JKAS, today convened a meeting of all concerned officers at his office chamber in Handwara to finalise necessary arrangements.
Similarly, Tehsildar Langate, Mohd Ismail, chaired a separate meeting at the Town Hall of Municipal Committee Langate to review and finalise arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations in Langate.
During the meetings, a threadbare discussion was held on various aspects of the National function. Officers briefed the chair about the status of preparations to ensure a smooth and hassle-free celebration. It was informed that the programme would commence with Shehnai Vadan at 8:05 AM, followed by National Flag unfurling at 10:05 AM.
The meeting was further informed that the main Republic Day function will be held at District Police Lines (DPL), Kulangam, Handwara, where the National Flag will be unfurled and the VIP will take the salute on the March Past. The march past will comprise contingents of Paramilitary Forces, J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, FPF, Home Guards, NCC cadets, school children, and Police Band.
ADC Handwara directed all officers to work in close coordination to ensure flawless arrangements on the ground. He instructed concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply at the venue. The Medical Superintendent, Associated Hospital GMC Handwara, along with Block Medical Officers of Langate and Handwara, were directed to keep ambulances, doctors, and first-aid facilities available at the venue.
The Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Handwara, and Municipal Committee Langate were directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness at the venues and surrounding town areas. Other arrangements reviewed included refreshments, reception of the Chief Guest, transport, fire and emergency services, cultural programmes, deployment of magistrates, distribution of invitation cards, and selection of officers and officials for recognition of their extraordinary services.
The ADC also directed concerned departments to ensure proper exhibition of government schemes through departmental tableaus to showcase ongoing developmental activities. Emphasising protocol, he instructed officers to maintain proper seating arrangements and ensure their presence along with staff during Republic Day functions, besides ensuring flag hoisting at their respective offices.
The meeting at Handwara was attended by DSP DAR Handwara and officers from various line departments. The Langate meeting was also attended by DO Police Post Langate Rayees Ahmad, EO Municipal Committee Langate Rohi Bhat, BMO Langate, Naib Tehsildar Langate, AEE PDD Langate, and other concerned officials.
