Kupwara, May, 13:Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara on Wednesday organized an Awareness-cum-Seed Distribution Program for tribal farmers at Yamlar Bala in the Rajwar area of district Kupwara. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 30 tribal farmers, reflecting the growing interest in modern and scientific farming practices within the region.
The event was graced by Prof. Kaiser Mohi-ud-Din Malik, Head KVK Kupwara, as the Chief Guest. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr. Rayess Ahmad, Dr. Nazir Ahmad, Dr. Shaied Hakeem, and other staff members of KVK Kupwara.
While addressing the gathering, Prof. Kaiser Mohi-ud-Din highlighted the significant role played by SKUAST-Kashmir in empowering farmers by introducing innovative agricultural practices, modern technology, and farmer-oriented outreach programs. He urged the farming community to adopt scientific techniques for better productivity, sustainability, and economic upliftment.
Local elected representatives, who also participated in the program, lauded the efforts of KVK Kupwara in supporting tribal communities through awareness drives and seed distribution initiatives. They acknowledged the center's contribution towards strengthening the region’s agricultural sector.
Reaffirming his commitment to the farming community, the Head of KVK Kupwara emphasized that such programs will continue to be organized to address farmers' challenges and promote sustainable agriculture in remote and tribal belts of the district.
The program concluded with the distribution of high-quality maize seed varieties, including Shalimar Maize Composite-3 and Shalimar Maize Composite-8, aimed at improving crop yield, promoting food security, and enhancing the livelihoods of tribal farmers in the area.
