IEC Campaign Against Drug Abuse Launched Across Kupwara Schools

Kupwara, April 15: In A significant move to curb drug abuse among the youth, the District Administration Kupwara launched the first phase of the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign across various schools in the district.
The campaign was formally inaugurated by the Nodal Officer of the IEC Campaign at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Handwara. Focused on raising awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse, the initiative witnessed active participation from more than 1500 students, as well as members of civil society, school faculty, and local stakeholders.
Resource persons from multiple departments conducted interactive sessions and awareness talks, shedding light on the physical, psychological, and social impact of substance abuse. Students engaged in open discussions, reflecting the campaign’s success in fostering dialogue on the issue.
This initiative is part of the district administration’s broader efforts to promote a drug-free environment and encourage healthy lifestyle choices among the younger generation. Subsequent phases of the campaign are planned and will be rolled out as per the schedule.
