Women Cricketers Get Platform to Shine at Handwara Tournament

Handwara Police Hosts T-10 Women’s Cricket Tournament at DPL

Handwara, Sept, 29: Handwara Police has organised a women’s cricket tournament at the District Police Lines (DPL) Ground, Handwara, with the aim of providing young women cricketers from different schools a common platform to participate, compete and showcase their sporting talent.

As many as six women’s cricket teams from different educational institutions are participating in the tournament. The matches are being played in T-10 format on a knockout basis, with one match scheduled each day. The tournament will continue for eight days.

The participating teams include Monarch Secondary School Handwara, Prime Institute Secondary School Kulangam, My New School Drugmulla, Elvis Garden Public School Handwara, Hill Grange Secondary School Handwara and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Handwara.

The tournament is being organised by Terrific Trio Trust, Sopore, in association with Monarch Secondary School Handwara, while Handwara Police is extending assistance in the conduct of the event at DPL Ground, Kulangam, Handwara.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging greater participation of girls in sports and providing young players with opportunities to develop their skills and demonstrate their talent in a positive and supportive environment.

The tournament is also promoting sportsmanship, teamwork and team spirit among the participating students. Such community-oriented initiatives provide youth with constructive opportunities and encourage them to remain actively engaged in sports.

Handwara Police continues to support youth-oriented activities aimed at promoting a healthy sporting culture and strengthening positive community engagement among young people.
