Handwara, Jan,10: An awareness programme on newly introduced labour laws was jointly organised by the Traders Federation Handwara and the Labour Department Kupwara on Saturday. A large number of traders and transporters from the sub-district and adjoining areas participated in the programme to gain a better understanding of the latest labour regulations.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Kupwara, Rahil Amin, attended the event as the Chief Guest. While addressing the gathering and later speaking to the media, he said that the primary objective of the programme was to sensitise stakeholders about the provisions, rights, and responsibilities outlined under the new labour laws.
He emphasised that awareness among employers and workers is crucial to ensure proper compliance, promote fair labour practices, and safeguard the interests of both employees and employers. He also highlighted the role of such initiatives in creating a transparent and lawful working environment.
Representatives of the Traders Federation Handwara, including the President, General Secretary, and other senior members of the executive body, also addressed the gathering. They stressed the need for regular interaction with government departments to resolve issues faced by the business community and to ensure smooth implementation of the new legal framework.
Participants appreciated the initiative, stating that the session helped clear several doubts regarding the new labour laws and their practical implementation.
