Originally hailing from the newly carved out Union Territory of Ladakh, Huma Qira’s eye-catching pictures in Kashmiri pheran have taken users on popular social media sites including Facebook and Instagram by storm.
Qira, an aspiring model, wants to become a popular name in the world of glamour and this wish of her is being fulfilled by her followers on Instagram who leaves no moment spared to praise her beauty and her love towards Kashmiri culture.
The promising model from Ladakh has been in the summer capital Srinagar for the past twenty one years and wishes to promote the rich Kashmiri culture and its ethnic wear through modelling.
“Basically we are from Ladakh but have shifted to Srinagar some twenty one years ago. I wish to earn a name and fame in the glamour world by promoting rich Kashmiri culture and ethnic wear. I never put on any other dress other than Kashmiri embellished shawls, pehran and wedding dress walking the ramp,” said Qira.
She however claimed that girls from Ladakh UT hardly wear Kashmiri attire and she is the only one who represents Kashmiri culture through modelling. Qira said she was overwhelmed to see many girls from Kashmir into modelling and that she wants more and more people both male and female to promote their tradition uniquely.
The Ladakh beauty said the scope for modelling in Kashmir is not as good as people here hardly have any exposure to the glamour world given the prevailing political situation of the region.
“I personally want to expand the scope for modelling in the valley and want more and more people into it so that my dream of taking Kashmiri culture on top is accomplished. I love Kashmir and its culture and that’s what makes me crazy about it,” she said.
So far as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are concerned, these popular online social media platforms have encouraged fashion startups to accomplish their dream of becoming successful models.
Qira said so far she has worked for BBS Collection and Shireen Libas as a model as the two have thousands of followers on Instagram thus making her a social media sensation in no time at all.
She also admitted to having received negative comments for her work; however she was quick to add that criticism makes a man ideal “these things, I mean negative comments hardly bother me as I want to groom in the world of glamour and cannot accomplish my dream of becoming a successful model if I start taking trolls seriously”
She also praised her parents whom she said always stood by her side and never let her feel discouraged at all.
