BUDGAM: Police arrested a non-local beggar from Rajasthan for kidnapping a kid in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. The female non-local beggar has been identified as Chidi Devi wife of Khana Ram resident of Dhannasar, Hanumangarh Rajasthan. A police spokesperson said that Police Station Khag received information that a lady while begging in the village Dalwash, Khag area kidnapped a 4-year-old child namely Ahil Ahmad Pandith son of Ghulam Mohuddin Pandith of Dalwash Khag village. The female beggar concealed the child under her scarf. Some women turned suspicious and informed the Police Station Khag. A police party rushed to the spot along with lady police personnel, recovered the kidnapped child from her possession, and arrested the beggar on spot. Police said a formal FIR vide number 17/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khag and the investigation has been taken up. The boy has been handed over to his parents after medico-legal formalities. (KNT)

A teacher sexually harassed a nine-year-old girl in Srinagar followed by his arrest by the police after he confessed to the crime. The arrested teacher was identified as Abdul Wahid Bhat son of Abdul Rehman Bhat from Khan colony Chanapora. The accused confessed to his crime and police have registered the case under FIR No 14 of 2023 u/s 354 IPC & 12 POCSO act in Chanpura Police Station.
