SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday said that it raided multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of its crackdown on the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in a terror funding case.
 
In a handout to GNS, the NIA said that its teams swooped down on the premises of various suspects at five locations in Srinagar, three in Budgam, two in Kulgam, one in Anantnag and four in Jammu. Incriminating documents and digital devices connected with the activities of JeI and its related Trusts in J&K were seized during the extensive searches, which also led to the recovery of over 20 lakh rupees in cash.
 
The NIA spokesman further stated that NIA investigations in the case, registered on 5th February 2021, have so far revealed that JeI and its members have continued to promote  terrorist and secessionist activities in J&K even after the outfit was proscribed under UA(P) Act in February 2019. Operatives of the banned organisation had been collecting funds through donations from within India and abroad. 
 
The funds were collected mainly in the form of Zakat, Mowda and Bait-ul-Mal, purported to promote charity and other welfare activities, such as health and education, but were instead being used for carrying out violent and secessionist activities, as per NIA investigations, he said.
 
It was further found that the funds raised by JeI were also being channelled to other proscribed terrorist organisations, such as Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) etc, through well organised networks of JeI cadres. JeI was also engaged in motivating impressionable youth and recruiting new members (Rukuns) in J&K to further its nefarious and secessionist activities, he said.
 
NIA had earlier chargesheeted 4 accused persons in the case, in which investigations are continuing, reads the statement.(GNS)

SRINAGAR: The Special Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in case FIR No. 17/2019 u/s 10 UA (P) Act of Police Station Batmaloo, registered on 1 March 2019 and later transferred to SIA Kashmir in December 2021.

According to a statement issued to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), SIA Kashmir filed the chargesheet on Friday before the Special UAPA (TADA/ POTA) Court, Srinagar against Ab Salam Dagga S/O Ghulam Mohammad Dagga R/O Bagji Islam Lal Nagar Chanapora Srinagar and abate chargesheet against another accused namely Mohammad Shafi Dar S/O Ghulam Mohammad Dar R/O Barzulla Baghat Srinagar, who has expired.

During the course of the investigation, the SIA Kashmir has also identified 188 properties which were either in possession or registered in the name of unlawful association JeI- JK, out of which identified 188 properties, out of which  58 properties, spread across the valley, have been notified (under section 8 of UAPA) by the District Magistrates, the statement said adding that this non-investigative action was aimed at disrupting the financial resources and support network of the unlawful association, which has been found involved in various unlawful activities. SRINAGAR: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir police sealed approximately 20 shops today in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

Acting on the orders of the district magistrate, the SIA took action to seal the shops, which were identified as part of a shopping complex owned by the Jama'at-e-Islami and designated as an unlawful association. According to an official statement to the news agency, Kashmir Scroll that the district magistrate of Kupwara ordered the SIA to seal the 20 shops. Simultaneously, the SIA team installed a board declaring the property, a shopping complex, as belonging to Jama'at-e-Islami, which has been designated as an Unlawful Association.

The property is located in the village of Kupwara and consists of twenty shops situated on land falling under survey numbers 29902666/270 and 3551|2979263. This action has been taken under Section 8 of the UA (P) Act in Case FR No. 172019. (KS)

SRINAGAR: District Magistrate Kupwara on Monday restricted usage and entry on properties worth three crores belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami in this north Kashmir district on the recommendations of State Investigation Agency (SIA).
 
“To choke the availability of funds for secessionist activities and to dismantle the ecosystem of anti-national elements & militant networks hostile to India's national security, sovereignty, integrity and unity, property belonging to and held by banned JeI at Kupwara has been notified by concerned District Magistrates' in exercise of the powers conferred under section 8 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 & Notification No. 14017/7/2019, dated 28- February- 2019 of Union Ministry of Home Affairs”, reads a statement issued to GNS.

“The property is a shopping complex comprising 20 shops along with appurtenant land falling under survey number 2990/2666/270 and survey number 3551/2979/263 has been sealed and entry / usage barred has been prohibited, reads the notification. Additionally “Red entry” to this effect has been made in the relevant revenue records. With this SIA Kashmir has got 57 properties of JeI notified till date”, reads the statement.

“The action, it is expected, would significantly dent militant funding in J&K besides being another major step in restoring rule of law & a society without fear.”

“Pertinently, SIA has identified as many as 188 JeI properties across the UT of J&K which have either been notified or are under the process of being notified for further legal action. These are as a result of investigation of case FIR number 17 of 2019 U/S 10, 11 & 13 of Police Station Batmaloo being investigated by SIA”, reads the statement further. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: In a major crackdown in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday raided multiple locations with assistance of Police and CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a case of banned organization Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

Reliable sources informed Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the sleuths of NIA with the assistance of police and CRPF raided the house of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat (85) son of Mohammad Jabbar Bhat at HIG colony Bemina in Srinagar. The raid carried by the agency is related to the JeI.

In south Kashmir’s Anantnag, NIA team raided the house of Mudasir Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, a resident of KV-pora Marhama.

The other team headed by Inspector Patail searched the house of Ghulam Quadi Wani son of Abdul Salam Wani, a resident of Gooau Pulwama as he was affiliated with JEI.

The NIA team also raided at Thokerpora Rajpora in the house of Shameem Ahmad Thoker son of Ghulam Nabi Thoker (Govt teacher).

Another NIA team searched the house of Mansoor Ah Dar son of Late Mohd Maqbool Dar, a resident of Wanbal Nehama in Kakapora.

In north Kashmir, the house of Ubaid Khazir Malik son of Khazir Mohd Malik at Warpora Zachaldara, Handwara is being searched by the nation probing agency.

At Nehama in Pulwama, the houses of Mushtaq Ah Rather son of Assadullah Rather and Abdul Rashid Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik are being searched by another team of NIA.

The agency also raided the house of Abdul Rashid Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik at Daferpora Newa. He is said to be the close relative of Advocate @zahid (JEI) resident of Nehama Kakapora who is presently under Public safety Act (PSA).

The raids are being carried out at other locations in Jammu and Kashmir, of which details will be shared later.

An official confirmed the raids to news agency Kashmir Dot Com and said that further details will be shared after conclusion of raids.

The Centre had banned the Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir in 2019 for five years under anti-terror law on grounds that it was "in close touch" with militant outfits and is expected to "escalate secessionist movement" in the state. (KDC)
