SRINAGAR: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Jammu on Tuesday filed a 4th supplementary chargesheet against 06 more accused in a case relating to terror funding in India, taking the total toll of accused to 18. 

In a handout to GNS, the SIA said that Mohd Sharief Chechi, Farooq Ahmad Jungal, and Saif Din who were arrested by SIA recently have been charge-sheeted under various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, Narcotic Drug Psychotropic Substance Act and Indian Penal code relating to criminal conspiracy, raising funds for Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, a proscribed terrorist organization . SIA Jammu has seized an amount of Rs 10 lac and freezed more than Rs 70 lac in bank accounts which were the proceeds from narcotics smuggled from PoK. Other 3 accused namely Hamidullah Khuroo, Farooq Ahmad Shawl and Javid Ahmad Chalkoo, all HM terrorists , are evading their arrest and are presently in Pakistan.

The spokesman further stated that the accused were involved in smuggling Heroin from PoK in Uri, Hathlanga, Baramulla and further transporting and selling of heroin in Jammu to generate huge proceeds which was further planned to be delivered to OGWs of HM, a proscribed terrorist organization. 

The same was deposited in banking channels for further distribution to fuel anti-national activities and other terrorist acts to challenge the sovereignty, integrity and security of India, he said.

SIA Jammu by filing the fourth chargesheet and making arrests has prevented huge amounts of money from entering into the channels of terror activities. 

The SIA crackdown over accused involved has prevented lives of many of our youths from being spoiled, he said.

Out of the total accused, proceedings for attaching their property under section 82/83 have been initiated. This will have a big dent on the property created by the accused using the terror money, he said.

SIA Investigation revealed that there is a well organized drug syndicate, including Farooq Ahmad Naikoo who was operating from Dubai, Mohd Rafiq Najar,Mubashir Mushtaq Fafoo, Ainaz Ahmad Sayam, Mohd Sharief Chechi, Farooq Ahmad Jungal ,  Saif Din, who after hatching conspiracy with HM terrorists Farooq Ahmad Shawl, Hamidullah Khuroo, Tariq Ahmad Malla and Javid Chalkoo operating from Pakistan infused narcotics into the Indian territory and further transported the said  narcotics to Jammu for generating huge narco-terror funds to be used for funding secessionist and terror activities, reads the statement. SRINAGAR: In the backdrop of arrest of the prime accused involved in killing of two residents from Punjab, and ‘upon his divulgence’, a massive operation has been launched to retrieve a mobile-phone besides other incriminating material thrown down by the arrestee into a water-body at two places along Ali Jan road here 

A top police officer told GNS that they apprehended the prime accused Adil Manzoor Langoo, a hybrid militant, from Zaldagar Srinagar recently. Upon persistent questioning, the accused, the officer said, divulged that he threw down the mobile-phone, he used to contact his handlers based in Pakistan, into a water body at Saidapora near Aiwa bridge – falling along Ali Jan road – after committing the act. “The accused has dropped other incriminating material at a separate place which also falls along the same stretch”, the officer said. 
 
“To take the investigation to a logical end, it was felt imperative to bring out the mobile-phone and other incriminating material out of the water body”, the officer said adding, “In this pursuit a massive operation has been launched, at both the specified places, since this morning where we have sought help of Marcos, SDRF and Navy personnel.”
 
“We hope that the required material is found and brought out successfully, which will help us a great deal to proceed with the investigations”, the officer said further.

Notably, Special Investigation Team was constituted under the DIG, Central Kashmir to further probe the incident.
 
Pertinent to mention here that, two residents of Amritsar Punjab came under a militant attack in Shalla Kadal area in Srinagar on February 7, 2024. While one Amrit Pal died instantly, his other colleague Rohit who suffered critical injuries in the incident succumbed a day later. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: In a major breakthrough for police, the main accused involved in the killing of two Punjab residents has been arrested by police, said IGP Kashmir VK Birdi.

During a press conference at Police Control Room, Inspector General of Police VK Birdi said that upon registering case FIR no. 08/2024 u/s 302, 307 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act, 15,16,20 
ULA(P) Act in PS Shaheed Ganj, Srinagar Police detected the case leading to the identification of the accused who carried out the terrorist attack on these two individuals from Punjab and subsequent recovery of weapon of offence and other incriminating material.

IGP Further said that Srinagar Police, on the basis of technical and field analysis, zeroed in upon certain suspects and later on, based upon clinching evidence collected during investigation, identified and arrested the main accused namely Adil Manzoor Langoo S/o Manzoor Ahmad Langoo R/o Zaldager Srinagar. 

It came to fore that the accused had conspired with his handler across in Pakistan for commission of the terror crime. Accused was a highly motivated and radicalised individual, the top officer said.

radicalised him on social media and motivated him to carry out the terror attack.

 In furtherance of the conspiracy, the handler provided him the weapon after which he motivated him to carry out the attack.

Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police Law and order, Vijay Kumar said that only one militant is alive and active in Srinagar. Overall 25 locals, 25-30 Foreign militants are active in J&K.

On 7th Feb, militants fired at two carpenters, both residents of Amritsar in Punjab, in the Shallakdal area of old Srinagar city. While one of the carpenters Amrit Pal Singh was killed, Rohit was critically injured in the attack, who on next day succumbed to his injuries. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: In a shocking incident, a youth has been arrested in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on charges of allegedly raping a minor girl. The accused was apprehended by the police in connection with the heinous crime.

A senior police official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll, the incident took place on Sunday and accused youth is currently in police custody and is being held behind bars.

The official stated that a case has been registered, with further investigation underway.

Arrested youth has been identified as Wasim Ahmad Parra son of Gh Qadir parra resident of Bazar Mohalla Sumbal. This distressing incident marks the second such occurrence in Bandipora district within a week.(KS)

SRINAGAR: Police on Wednesday arrested an accused who allegedly raped a minor girl in Srinagar.

The accused have been identified as Irshad Ahmad a resident of Hamdaniya Colony.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) ACT in Police station Bemina.

"One Irshad Ahmad Langoo S/o Bashir Ahmed Langoo R/o Hamdaniya Colony arrested for raping a minor girl. FIR No. 97/2023 u/s 376 of IPC, sections 5(N), 6 of POCSO Act registered in Bemina PS," police said on X. (UNI)

They said Police Station Kreeri received written complaint from a girl stating therein that she was raped by her father, a resident of Kalantra Payeen, and is absconding from home.

On this complaint a case was registered in Police Station Kreeri under relevant sections of law.

“Police Station Kreeri utilizing all technical and human sources and with strenuous efforts traced the accused and arrested him in the instant case,” a police statement said.

They said further medico legal formalities were conducted of the girl and further investigation of the case is in progress. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has produced chargesheet against 19 accused persons in the court of Passenger Tax Srinagar.

According a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the accused persons were involved in the commission of offences punishable under sections 420, 468, 120-B & 201 RPC. 

The statement reads that brief facts of the case are that Crime Branch Kashmir had received a complaint alleging that certain individuals had been appointed in J&K Police [District Srinagar] on the basis of fake and forged appointment orders. 

It reads that accordingly, the instant case was registered in P/S Crime Branch Kashmir (now, Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar) in 2015 and investigation was started.

“During investigation it has been established that the appointment orders had been issued in clear violation of rules & established norms and after manipulation of records etc. The aforesaid acts on part of the accused individuals has established cheating, fraud and forgery under 420, 468, 120-B & 201 RPC.”

It added that accordingly, investigation of the case was closed as "proved" against 19 accused persons and chargesheet has been produced before the Court for judicial determination. (KNO)

SRINAGAR: In a recent development, the court has denied bail to two self-proclaimed journalists, Nadeem Ahmad Ganie and Salman Mansoor Shah, who are facing serious charges of rape and extortion. The decision by the court came as a blow to the accused, who had sought release on various grounds, including alleged improvements in the victim's statement and purported fabrication of evidence.

The 2nd additional session’s judge of Srinagar, according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), while considering the bail applications, acknowledged that rape is a grave offense that not only violates a woman's basic human rights but also has a devastating impact on her physical and emotional well-being. The court stressed the need for sensitivity and careful examination of sexual crime cases, emphasizing that personal liberty must be balanced with the interest of justice and society.

The court noted that the statements of key witnesses, including the doctor and the investigation officer, are yet to be recorded. This highlights the significance of their testimonies in providing crucial evidence and shedding light on the veracity of the allegations. The court expressed concerns that releasing the accused at this stage could potentially influence the case and obstruct the gathering of comprehensive evidence.

The bail applications argued alleged improvements made by the prosecutrix in her statement, contradictions, unexplained delays in filing the FIR, and the non-seizure of the mobile phone used for WhatsApp messaging. However, the court clarified that such aspects pertain to the merits or demerits of the prosecution's case and cannot be considered at this stage of the bail application.

The court firmly stated that rape is a heinous crime that leaves a lasting impact on the victim, causing feelings of degradation, humiliation, and guilt. It emphasized that society should not view women with derision or as objects of desire but rather protect their dignity, honor, and sanctity. Rape not only inflicts physical injuries but also deeply scars a woman's cherished possessions, such as her reputation and chastity.

With the denial of bail, the accused journalists will remain in custody, awaiting further proceedings in the case. The court's decision highlights its commitment to ensuring a fair and thorough examination of the allegations, prioritizing the rights and well-being of the victim.

The trial will continue to unfold as the prosecution presents its evidence, including the statements of key witnesses such as the doctor and the investigation officer. SRINAGAR: Police on tuesday claimed to have arrested a person accused in sexual Harassment against a girl in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that, in response to a distressing incident reported on 29th May 2023, involving an act of sexual harassment against a young girl (identity withheld), the police today arrested the accused. The brave victim approached the Soibug Police Post on the aforementioned date at 22:00 hours to file a written complaint detailing the events that unfolded.

The spokesman further stated that according to the victim's statement, on 25th May 2023, around 10 AM, she left for her coaching classes in Budgam. She accepted a lift from an unknown vehicle near Soibugh along her journey. Unfortunately, during the course of the trip, the driver subjected her to sexual harassment. In a fortunate turn of events, she managed to escape, albeit leaving behind her mobile phone and school bag inside the vehicle. 
Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, the Budgam Police immediately began investigating the incident thoroughly. Through diligent efforts and resourceful investigative work, the accused individual involved in this deplorable act has been identified as Saqib Ahmad Dar, a resident of Narkara Budgam. He was promptly apprehended and the vehicle involved in the incident was also seized. The registration number of the vehicle is JK01N 5711, a Verna model.

The Budgam Police are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all individuals, particularly women and children. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting such crimes promptly, allowing law enforcement agencies to take swift action and bring the perpetrators to justice. SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday said that it presented challan in brutal rape and murder case of a lady in Soibug, in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that the case pertains to the missing report lodged in Police Post Soibug of a lady on 8th of March 2023 and later on it was discovered during search that she had been murdered & her body dismembered. During investigation, police arrested the accused person Shabir Ahmad Wani of Mohanpora Budgam for his involvement in the commission of crime and a case FIR No 53/23 under section 302 IPC was lodged in Police Station Budgam.

It was further revealed that the victim had been raped before being murdered and dismembered. This led to the addition of the rape charge under section 376 of the IPC.

The spokesman further stated that the accused Shabir Ahmad Wani is currently in judicial custody. The charge sheet containing charges under Sections 302, 376 and 201 of the IPC has been produced in the court of Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam, reads the statement. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: In a major success, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said it arrested two accused who were allegedly involved in the murder of Moulvi Mohammad Farooq who was assassinated in his Srinagar residence by unidentified gunmen on May 21 in 1990.

Police said the two Hizbul Mujahideen militants Javeed Ahmed Bhat alias Ajmal Khan of Solina Bala, at present Azad Basti Natipora Srinagar and Zahoor Ahmad Bhat alias Bilal of Danderkhaw Batamaloo Srinagar, who were on the run from over 32 years were arrested by the J&K Police’s Special Investigation Agency(SIA).

The two were declared proclaimed offenders by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Announcing the arrest of the duo, Special Director General of Police, CID, R R Swain said out of the five Hizbul men accused in the case, two including the group commander Abdullah Bangroo and his aide Rehman Shigan were killed in encounters.

“Ayub Dar was the only one arrested in the case who was awarded life imprisonment and the two Zahoor and Bilal were absconders,” Swain told reporters in Srinagar.

He said the two had gone underground and during all these years were hiding in Nepal and Pakistan among other places before surreptitiously returning back to Kashmir a few years ago.

“Maintaining a low profile, changing addresses and shifting residences, they avoided the gaze of law enforcement agencies,” he said.

The DGP said the two were arrested and have been handed over to CBI to face the trial.

Moulvi Mohammad Farooq, father of moderate Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was killed by gunmen after they barged into his Nigeen residence on May 21 in 1990. Subsequently, on the same day, a huge procession carrying his coffin was fired upon by CRPF at Hawal in Srinagar leaving more than 60 civilians dead.
Police said Mirwaiz Farooq, was killed by Hizbul Mujahideen accusing him of being a ‘peacenik’ and an ‘Indian agent’.

Soon after the killing, J&K police registered a case in Police Station Nageen, Srinagar. Thereafter the government transferred the investigation to the CBI on June 11, 1990.

In a statement, Police said before killing Mirwaiz, all the five HM militants had gone to Pakistan for arms training in 1990.

“Back in Srinagar, Abdullah Bangroo received instructions in April 1990 from his ISI handler in Pakistan to eliminate Mirwaiz,” police said.

“During trial running for several years, it could be established that the terrorist who pulled the trigger on Mirwaiz Farooq on the fateful day on the directions of then HM commander Abdullah Bangroo was Zahoor Bhat who ironically succeeded in evading arrest by going into hiding,” police said. (UNI)
