SRINAGAR: The body of a man who had jumped into the Jhelum River last month was retrieved on Saturday, officials said.

They said that the body of the deceased, identified as Nazir Ahmed Matoo, son of Ali Mohd Matoo, a resident of Tenbagh Eidgah, Srinagar, was recovered from the Jhelum River at Shalteng bridge by the Police.

The man had reportedly jumped from Safakadal bridge on February 29 this year.

The body has been shifted to a hospital and will be handed over to family after medico-legal formalities. (KNO)

SRINAGAR: :A lady who was rescued by locals after she allegedly jumped into river jhelum at New Zainakadal bridge succumbed on Thursday afternoon.

Sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll said that an old aged lady name (withheld) resident of Kailashpora was rescued by locals after she allegedly tried to end her life by jumping into river Jhelum on Ist July.

They said after the incident she was taken to SMHS hospital for treatment, where she succumbed this afternoon.

 Meanwhile, police are investigating the matter and further details are awaited.(KS)

SRINAGAR: An unidentified person jumped into the river Jehlum here in Qamarwari area of Central Kashmir's Srinagar district on Wednesday morning. Eyewitnesses told the news agency, Kashmir Scroll that one unidentified person jumped into river Jhelum from Cement Bridge Qamarwari Srinagar.

“The identity of the person could not be immediately known,” they added A police official while confirming the incident to Kashmir Scroll said that a teams of police including SDRF launched a search operation to rescue the person. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A body of woman who had drowned into the river Jhelum in Dokalbal Sopore area of North Kashmir on April 22 this ear, was fished out after around 20 days, officials said in Saturday. An official told news agency— Kashmir Scroll that the woman had river into the river Jhelum at Dokalbal Sopore on 22 April. Efforts were made to retrieve her body shortly after the incident, but all in vain as authorities failed to retrieve the body. The official said her was retrieved by the locals in of Baramulla today following which the body was taken to GMC Baramulla. After completion of all formalities, the body will be handed over to the family for the last rites, he said. Further investigation taken has been taken up—(KS)

SRISRINAGAR: The body of youth who allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Jhelum has been retrieved in Barthana area of Qamarwari Srinagar.

Officials confirmed that a youth who allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Jhelum in Barthana area has been retrieved by river police Srinagar.

They said that youth had jumped into Jhelum this afternoon, subsequently a rescue operation was launched by river police Srinagar and within hours, the body of the youth was retrieved.

Meanwhile, after completion of medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to family for last rites.(CNS)
