SRINAGAR: A 42-year-old man, riding a scooty was killed after allegedly being hit by a sumo vehicle in Bumhama area in Kupwara district, reports and officials said.

Reports reaching GNS said that a scooty (JK05 7327) and a Sumo vehicle (JK01W 4834) were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in fatal injuries to the scooty-rider.

The scooty-rider was evacuated to SDH Kupwara, where the doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival. 

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard for investigations.

The official identified the deceased as Mohammad Maqbool Ganaie of Sever Thandipora. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A girl from Ganderpora Eidgah was injured after her scooty skidded off in Kawdara area of Central Kashmir Srinagar district on Tuesday officials said.

They told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a girl named Ayman Rasool daughter of Ghulam Rasool Rather resident of Ganderpora iddgah was injured when her scooty which she was riding skidded off near Kawdara Chowk of downtown area today morning.

They said that she was rushed to SMHS hospital srinagar for treatment and her condition is said to be critical. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance in this regard.[KS]

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested a man who tied a dog with his scooty and dragged it along a road in Srinagar, officials said

A video of the dog tied with the scooty and being dragged went viral on social media.

After the incident came to the light, police swung in action and registered a case under section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle or any animal) of Indian Penal Code and section 11 of prevention of cruelty to animals Act at Nishat Police Station.

Police said the accused identified as Abdul Rashid Dar of Gaw Marg Shalimar has been arrested and the scooty was also seized. (UNI)
